Drama Director

Mr. John Karos
Director of Instrumental Music
Mr. Karos is the director of the instrumental music program at Tuscarora High School. He hails from Frederick, MD and was a graduate of Urbana High School. He attended Shepherd University and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Music Education in 2009. While in college, he was part of the Shepherd University Ram Band, serving as Drum Major for 2 years. He also performed with the University Wind Ensemble, including the performance at Carnegie Hall in 2005. Overseas performances include England, Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic with both the Wind Ensemble and the Jazz Ensemble. Mr. Karos has also worked in the county as the Assistant Band Director of Brunswick High School 2005-2009 and the Band Director at Ballenger Creek Middle School from 2009-2010. He currently serves as the principal tuba player for the Frederick Symphony Orchestra. Most recently, Mr. Karos has served as the Director of the Shepherd University Pep Band.

Mr. Terry Moore
Director of Choral Music
Assistant Drama Director
Mr. Moore is the director of choral music at Tuscarora High School and also serves as the Assistant Drama Director. He is thrilled to be part the Tuscarora community and to have the opportunity to work with the many talented students here in this beautiful facility. He is originally from Levittown, New York and now resides just north of Frederick in Smithsburg, Maryland. Mr. Moore is a graduate of the University of Maryland where he earned his B.S. in Music Education and also holds a Masters Degree in Counseling from Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College). Before beginning his teaching career, he made his living as an actor/singer and was fortunate enough to perform with the Washington Opera, the Berlin Opera and almost all of the Dinner Theatre’sin existence in the Washington D.C. area. He has continued to perform sporadically throughout his teaching career and has also served as director, musical director, artistic director, stage manager, and lighting designer at the Washington County Playhouse in Hagerstown. In the summer of 2011 Mr. Moore was fortunate enough to perform at two of the the most prestigious Equity Summer Stock companies in New England in a production of "Footloose". Over the past thirty years some favorite credits include: Jack Jerome (Brighton Beach Memoirs), Mr. Bumble (Oliver), Archibald (The Secret Garden), Emile (South Pacific),The Duke (Big River), Tony (West Side Story), Billy Bigelow (Carousel), Mordred (Camelot), and Lamar (Godspell). His proudest accomplishment by far is his twenty-six years of marriage to his wonderful wife Tracey and their ability to survive with humor, while raising our four children; Matthew, Katie, Genevieve, and Jordan.
