Parent Volunteerism

"It takes a village."  No matter your politics, this sentiment rings true for most. It does take a village. It takes each of us bringing our best effort, enthusiasm, and skills together for the good of the common goal. This program does not run on its own.  The THS Choral and Dance program can only be successful if it has proper support from the students, parents and community.

While the Performing Arts classes are school sponsored programs, there are many, many expenses that are simply not afforded with the school’s budget. Putting on a good show, dance routine, or recitals requires costumes, robes, choreography, music, accompanists, competition fees, etc. To help fundraise for these much needed items we have the benefit of a parent support organization called Tuscarora High School Performing Arts Boosters (THSPAB…. Or you may hear some of us pronounce it “thispab”).  THSPAB is a non-profit organization made up of parents that have a strong belief is supporting the arts, choral, and dance programs.

As a parent of a choral or dance student your participation in this program is imperative.  There are many ways for you to be involved.  THSPAB strongly believes in relying on the talents of our support team, so if you have special talent such as sewing, web design, organizing, that we could benefit from, please let us know.  Listed below are just a few of the opportunities that you can get involved.

  • Attend all THS Booster Meetings

  • Join a committee (fundraising, social, community outreach)

  • Volunteer at any of our fundraising events (Fundraising events help us minimize the expense to parents and students)

  • Volunteer for concessions or to sell tickets at concerts

  • Become a member of the THSPAB Board of Directors

  • Work with our costume manager to wash costumes, perform alterations, etc.
